When choosing a kitten from the same litter, you may face a common dilemma: male or female.
As a breeder, this question is often asked, if not every time. To complicate matters further, there is a plethora of information available on this subject online. We will help you understand the differences between males and females.
The noticeable difference between males and females is their weight. Males can sometimes be twice the size of females. The advantage of this is that males are very strong and tend to adapt well to young children, though they can sometimes be a little rough with them. Additionally, since they are quite heavy for very young children, the kids are less likely to mishandle them. The key point is to educate your children.
The male will be slightly larger than the female; his neck will be less defined than hers, and he will develop significantly more muscle. Males are generally very athletic, while females are slender and thinner. However, some females can be pretty intense, depending on their bloodlines. It is essential to let the breeder know what you’re looking for in a cat. We didn’t observe any noticeable differences in the behaviour of sterilized males and females. All our kittens are neutered very young, so they have not experienced any hormonal spikes that could affect their behaviour.
When the time comes to select your kitten at about 2 months of age, we ensure to provide pictures and details about their temperaments based on our understanding of each individual. Some females may be more active and bold, while others are calmer or more analytical. The same applies to the males. We do not judge our cats based on sex but on personality. This way, you’ll be sure to find the right partner!
