Animals, like humans, experience strong emotions during major changes, such as settling into a new home. You can make transitions smoother for everyone by following the 3-3-3 Rule.

3 days – 3 weeks – 3 months

3 days: During the first few days in a new environment, your animal may be disoriented, nervous, overwhelm. Let them come to you and explore their new surroundings at their own pace. Give them a calm environment and, above all, don’t jump to conclusions about your new companion’s personality, as they’re not really “themselves” yet.

3 weeks : during this period your new pet will reveal his personality and realize he is in a safe environment with you. This is the time to start socializing and training your companion while you monitor his needs and are being attentive to their body language. He is settling into his home now and building a trusting relationship with you.

The Golden rule: Ignore any unwanted behavior and reward desired behaviour.

3 months: This is how long it’ll take your animal to adapt well and build their trust towards you, they will be relaxed and themselves at this point! Keep in mind to always  have a positive attitude and offer them physical and mental activities every day.

Congratulations on welcoming a new family member!

Every animal is unique and grows and change in their own way. Be attentive to your pet’s need and you will be amazed by the bonding trust you will have with him.
