Devon Rex Breeder Vancouver and British Columbia
British Columbia is about as far from us as a Canadian family can be, and it is still one of the provinces we hear from most. As a Devon Rex breeder near Montreal with over 15 years of experience, DragonflyCats places kittens with families in Metro Vancouver, the Fraser Valley, the Okanagan and on Vancouver Island.
Each kitten is raised in our family home among other cats and dogs, and travels with its health records, registration papers, Royal Canin starter kit and 30 days of Trupanion insurance already in place.
Devon Rex kittens for sale in Vancouver, Kelowna and on Vancouver Island
The distance means your kitten travels to you. We prepare the paperwork and health certificates and plan the transport together, confirming every detail at reservation. Shipping costs are extra, and for families in Victoria or Sooke we plan the final leg of the trip with you as well.
What makes British Columbia unusual is that it is really three climates in one province. The coast is mild and damp for most of the year. The Okanagan swings between hot, dry summers and genuine winter. The Island sits somewhere in between, wet and temperate. A Devon Rex does well in all three, for the same reason: it lives indoors, so what matters is the home you keep rather than the weather outside it.
We welcome families from across the province, including:
- Vancouver
- Burnaby
- Surrey
- Richmond
- North Vancouver
- Coquitlam
- Langley
- Abbotsford
- Chilliwack
- Kelowna
- Vernon
- Penticton
- Victoria
- Sooke

Warmth, damp weather and a fine coat
The Devon Rex has a short, wavy coat with almost no undercoat. That is what makes it so soft and why it sheds so little, but it also means this cat has less insulation than most. In a Vancouver or Sooke winter the issue is not cold so much as damp: a house that sits at 18 degrees with the rain coming sideways feels colder to a thin-coated cat than the thermometer suggests. A fleece-lined bed away from drafty patio doors, a perch in whatever sun you get, and a heated pad on the worst days are all it takes.
The Okanagan asks the opposite question in July. Kelowna and Penticton get genuinely hot, and while a Devon Rex handles heat better than it handles cold, it still needs shade, fresh water and a cool tiled floor to stretch out on. Air conditioning is a kindness. Either way this is a strictly indoor cat, which also keeps it clear of coyotes, eagles and busy roads.
Planning your kitten's trip to British Columbia
After you reserve, we plan the journey west together. We take care of the paperwork and the health certificates, keep you updated as the date approaches and confirm all the arrangements ahead of time. Shipping costs are in addition to the price of the kitten, and the balance is due two weeks before shipping.
Families on Vancouver Island sometimes ask whether the ferry complicates things. It doesn't change anything about the paperwork — we simply build that last stretch into the plan with you. Once your kitten is home, we stay available for questions about feeding, settling in and grooming, however many time zones apart we are.

Frequently asked questions
Do you place Devon Rex kittens with families in British Columbia?
Yes. We are located near Montreal and place kittens with families in Vancouver, the Fraser Valley, the Okanagan and on Vancouver Island, including Victoria and Sooke. We handle the paperwork and health certificates and plan the transport with you.
How does a kitten get to Vancouver, Kelowna or Victoria?
We organize the transport with you once your reservation is in place and confirm every detail in advance. For Island destinations, we plan the final leg with you, too. Shipping costs are extra.
Is the damp West Coast climate a problem for a Devon Rex?
No, as long as it lives indoors and has warm places to settle. A thin-coated cat notices damp cold more than most, so cozy beds away from drafts and a warm spot in the sun make a real difference.
Can a Devon Rex handle a hot Okanagan summer?
Generally yes — this breed tolerates warmth better than cold. It still needs shade, fresh water and a cool floor to lie on, and air conditioning is welcome during a heat wave.
How do I reserve a Devon Rex kitten from BC?
Reserve an available kitten with a 30% deposit, or join the paid waiting list ($500) for priority choice on upcoming litters, first come first served. Deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable.
