Brussels Griffon Breeder for Florida Families
Dreaming of Brussels Griffon puppies for sale in Florida? DragonflyCats has been breeding for over 15 years near Montreal, Quebec, and we are glad to welcome families from Miami, Tampa, Orlando, Naples and everywhere in between. Our puppies grow up in a warm family home with other dogs and cats, and they leave with AKC limited registration, a microchip and Embark genetic testing.
Florida may be far from Montreal, but distance does not change our approach as a Brussels Griffon breeder Florida families trust: honest advice, careful planning and support long after your puppy is home, including practical tips for keeping a short-muzzled dog comfortable in the heat.
A Brussels Griffon in the Sunshine State
Florida living is wonderful for people and, with the right habits, for a Brussels Griffon too. Many families here live in condos, gated communities or single-level homes with air conditioning, which suits a small indoor companion very well. Retirees, snowbirds and remote workers often tell us they want a dog that stays close, travels easily in a carrier and does not need long runs, and the Griffon is exactly that kind of dog.
What makes Florida different is the climate. Heat and humidity last for much of the year, and that matters for a brachycephalic breed. A Griffon is happiest as an indoor dog in a cool home, with walks early in the morning or after sunset, and it should never be left in a parked car.
We welcome families across Florida, including:
- Miami
- Fort Lauderdale
- Boca Raton
- West Palm Beach
- Naples
- Fort Myers
- Sarasota
- Tampa
- St. Petersburg
- Orlando
- Jacksonville
- Tallahassee

Short muzzle, big heart: caring for a Griffon in the heat
The Brussels Griffon is a toy breed of about 7 to 12 lb with a flat, expressive face. That short muzzle is part of its charm, but it also means the breed cools itself less efficiently than long-nosed dogs. In Florida, plan walks during the coolest hours, choose shaded routes, check that pavement is not too hot for little paws, keep fresh water available and skip vigorous play on hot, humid days. Watch for heavy panting or fatigue, and talk to your veterinarian about heat safety.
The good news is that a Griffon does not need much exercise to be happy. Indoor games, a short stroll and plenty of cuddles are enough for this affectionate “velcro dog.” It loves to follow its people around the house, making it a delightful companion for Florida retirees and families who spend lots of time at home.
Bringing your Brussels Griffon home to Florida

U.S. rules currently require dogs entering the United States to be at least 6 months old, microchipped, and accompanied by a CDC Dog Import Form receipt. We confirm the latest requirements with you before travel and plan the timing together. Your puppy will arrive older and well socialized, used to gentle handling, new sounds and daily routines, a real advantage for a long trip and a new home.
We ship worldwide and handle all aspects of the transaction, including paperwork and health certificates. Given Florida’s climate, we plan the transport with you and pay attention to timing and comfort. Shipping costs are extra, and customs or brokerage fees are the buyer’s responsibility. Do you place puppies with families in Florida?
Yes. We are located near Montreal, Quebec, and we welcome families from across Florida. We handle paperwork and health certificates, plan the transport with you and confirm all details at reservation.
What are the requirements to bring a puppy from Canada to Florida?
