A close neighbor to Vermont families

Vermont and Quebec share a border, and northern Vermont towns like St. Albans and Burlington are relatively close to the Montreal area compared with most U.S. destinations. Many Vermonters already know the region well. That proximity makes it easier to stay in touch, ask questions and plan your puppy’s arrival with us, even though crossing the border still comes with its own requirements.

Life in Vermont often means a slower pace, small communities, long snowy winters and lots of time at home. A Brussels Griffon fits beautifully into that rhythm: it enjoys a short walk in fresh snow (with a sweater on cold days), then a warm spot by the woodstove next to its people. It is a great match for couples, retirees and families who want a devoted little dog rather than a high-energy hiking partner.

We welcome families from across the Green Mountain State, including:

  • Burlington
  • South Burlington
  • Essex Junction
  • Winooski
  • Colchester
  • St. Albans
  • Swanton
  • Montpelier
  • Barre
  • Stowe
  • Middlebury
  • Rutland
  • Brattleboro

A devoted companion for calm, cozy homes

The Brussels Griffon is a toy breed of about 7 to 12 lb with a remarkably expressive face. Owners often say their Griffon seems to understand every word. It is deeply attached to its family and tends to choose a favorite person, which is why it is often called a “velcro dog.” For seniors or people who work from home, that loyalty is a real joy.

Griffons come with either a rough, wiry coat or a smooth, short coat. The rough coat benefits from regular brushing and occasional grooming, while the smooth coat needs only a quick weekly brush. Both types are small dogs that feel the cold, so a coat or sweater for Vermont’s winter walks is a good idea, and indoor play keeps them happy on the stormiest days.

Welcoming your Brussels Griffon in Vermont

Brussels Griffon breeder Vermont: Brussels Griffon raised by DragonflyCats

Even for a neighbor state, U.S. rules currently require dogs entering the United States to be at least 6 months old, microchipped, and accompanied by a CDC Dog Import Form receipt. We confirm the latest requirements with you and plan the timing together. The upside is real: your puppy comes home more mature, already well socialized and used to daily routines, which often makes the first weeks in a new home smoother.

We handle all aspects of the transaction, including paperwork and health certificates, and we plan the handover or transport with you. Shipping costs, if applicable, are extra, and customs or brokerage fees are the buyer’s responsibility. We confirm every detail at reservation and remain available for support after adoption.

Frequently asked questions

How close is your breeding home to Vermont?

We are located near Montreal, Quebec, which is a close neighbor to northern Vermont. The Burlington and St. Albans areas are much nearer to us than most U.S. destinations, and we plan your puppy’s arrival together.

Can a puppy from Quebec cross the border into Vermont?

Yes, as long as current U.S. requirements are met: dogs must currently be at least 6 months old, microchipped, and have a CDC Dog Import Form receipt. We confirm the latest rules with you and plan the timing together, so your puppy arrives older and well socialized.

Does a Brussels Griffon handle Vermont winters?

A Griffon can enjoy short outings in the snow, but as a small toy breed it feels the cold. A well-fitted sweater or coat, shorter walks and plenty of indoor play keep it comfortable during Vermont winters.

What comes with a Brussels Griffon puppy?

Each puppy comes with AKC limited registration, age-appropriate vaccination, a microchip, a Royal Canin starter kit, health records, 30 days of Trupanion insurance, Embark genetic testing and a 1-year congenital and hereditary warranty.

Is a Brussels Griffon a good dog for seniors?

Many seniors love the breed because it is small, affectionate and happy with moderate exercise. Griffons do best with someone who is home often, since they are very attached to their people.
