Devon Rex Breeder Massachusetts and Greater Boston

Massachusetts sends us a particular kind of inquiry: careful, well-researched, usually with two or three good questions already written down. DragonflyCats is a Devon Rex breeder with more than 15 years of experience, placing kittens from Greater Boston to the Pioneer Valley and the Berkshires.

Kittens are raised in our home rather than in a separate facility, among other cats and dogs, and each one leaves already sterilized, TICA-registered, vaccinated, microchipped and genetically tested, under a 3-year congenital and hereditary warranty.

Devon Rex kittens for Boston, Cambridge and beyond

Boston sits about 300 miles from us, which means your kitten travels rather than you. We assemble the paperwork and health certificates and arrange the trip alongside you, with each detail locked in when you reserve. Shipping is an additional cost; customs or brokerage fees are the buyer's.

A good share of our Massachusetts families live in triple-deckers and converted walk-ups in Somerville, Allston or Jamaica Plain, or in college-town rentals around Amherst and Northampton. That means shared stairwells, thin floors, landlords with opinions and, often, a move every year or two. A Devon Rex handles all of it well: it lives indoors, so a shared entryway is never a route to the street, and it bonds to its people rather than to a floor plan, which makes moving day far less traumatic than it is for many cats.

Two practical notes for rentals here. Confirm your lease allows a cat before you reserve, not after — and check whether your landlord requires the cat to be spayed or neutered and vaccinated, which ours already are on arrival. Families reach us from every corner of the state, including:

  • Boston
  • Cambridge
  • Somerville
  • Brookline
  • Newton
  • Quincy
  • Medford
  • Worcester
  • Springfield
  • Amherst
  • Northampton
  • Lowell
  • Salem

A cat that adapts when your address does

Most cats are attached to territory. The Devon Rex is attached to people, and that single difference explains why it settles into a new apartment in days rather than weeks. Set up one room first with its litter box, food, a cat tree and something of yours that smells right, let it come out on its own schedule, and it will usually be exploring within an afternoon. For anyone whose housing changes with the academic year, that resilience is worth a great deal.

New England weather asks two things of a thin-coated cat. Winter is the obvious one: very little undercoat means a Devon Rex hunts down warmth, so a fleece-lined bed away from a drafty triple-decker window and a spot near a radiator cover it. The less obvious one is August humidity in a top-floor apartment with no air conditioning, which is hard on any cat — shade, fresh water and a fan make a real difference. Low shedding, incidentally, is not the same as hypoallergenic; no cat is, so raise any allergy concerns with us before you reserve.

Frequently asked questions

Will you ship a Devon Rex kitten to Massachusetts?

Yes. We're located near airports and place kittens throughout Massachusetts, from Greater Boston to the Pioneer Valley and the Berkshires. We prepare the paperwork and health certificates and plan the transport with you.

What do I need to bring a kitten to Massachusetts?

We verify transportation requirements, organize the paperwork and health certificates, and plan the trip accordingly.

I move apartments fairly often. Is that fair to a cat?

A Devon Rex handles moves better than most cats because it bonds to people rather than to a place. Set up one room first with its familiar things and let it explore at its own pace.

How does a Devon Rex handle New England winters?

Very well as an indoor cat. Its fine coat means it seeks warmth, so a cozy bed away from drafty windows and a spot near a radiator or in the sun are all it needs.

How do I reserve a Devon Rex kitten from Massachusetts?

A 30% deposit holds an available kitten. Alternatively, the $500 waiting list gives you priority pick of upcoming litters on a first-come basis. Deposits are non-refundable and cannot be transferred.
