Devon Rex Breeder New Jersey Families Trust

New Jersey families tend to know exactly what they're looking for by the time they reach us. We are a Devon Rex breeder with more than 15 years of experience, and our kittens go to households from Bergen County and Hoboken down through Princeton and Cherry Hill.

Kittens are born and raised in the middle of household life, with other cats and dogs around them. Before yours leaves it is spayed or neutered, TICA-registered, vaccinated, microchipped and genetically tested, and it comes with health records and a Royal Canin starter kit.

Devon Rex kittens for New Jersey families

You are about 400 miles from us, so the kitten makes the journey. The paperwork and health certificates are ours to handle, and we set up the transport together — everything settled at reservation. Shipping is billed on top, and customs or brokerage charges belong to the buyer.

Most of the New Jersey families who contact us are households with children, often in a townhouse in Jersey City or a suburban home in Morris or Monmouth County, with at least one adult commuting into Manhattan or Philadelphia. Two things follow from that, and they shape our advice more than geography does.

The first is that a Devon Rex is genuinely good with kids — sturdier and more tolerant of handling than its delicate looks suggest, and playful enough to keep up with a seven-year-old. The second is that the house is empty from eight to six, and this is not a breed that shrugs that off. Our New Jersey families come from all over, including:

  • Newark
  • Jersey City
  • Hoboken
  • Paterson
  • Elizabeth
  • Edison
  • Woodbridge
  • Morristown
  • Princeton
  • New Brunswick
  • Toms River
  • Cherry Hill
  • Montclair
  • Hackensack

A cat for a full house and a busy schedule

The Devon Rex is often described as dog-like, and with children in the house you see why. It plays fetch, it comes when called, it tolerates being carried around by someone who hasn't quite mastered how to hold a cat, and it seeks out the noisiest room rather than hiding from it. With school-age kids we still teach the same rules as with any animal — support the body, no tails, let the cat leave when it wants to — but this breed gives you more margin than most.

The commuting question deserves a straight answer. A Devon Rex left alone from eight in the morning until six at night, day after day, is not a happy cat. Many of our New Jersey families adopt two kittens together, or already have a cat or a dog at home, and that solves it neatly. If you're set on one cat and long days, say so when you contact us and we'll be honest with you about whether the fit is right.

Bringing your kitten home to New Jersey

After you reserve, we map out the journey together. We determine what needs to be handled for transportation, compile the paperwork and health certificates, and set a date that works for it.

Shipping costs are added to the kitten's price, and you settle the balance two weeks before departure. Health records, registration papers, a Royal Canin starter kit and 30 days of Trupanion coverage travel with your kitten. We stay on hand afterward for questions about feeding, litter habits and introductions to the rest of the household.

Frequently asked questions

Can we adopt a Devon Rex kitten from New Jersey?

Yes. We place kittens with families across New Jersey. We prepare the paperwork and health certificates and plan the transport with you, with all details confirmed at reservation.

What is required to bring a kitten to New Jersey?

We determine what's required for transportation, prepare the certificates and paperwork, and coordinate the timing with you.

Is a Devon Rex good with children?

Generally very good. It's playful, sociable and more tolerant of handling than it looks. As with any animal, children should be taught to support its body and let it walk away when it wants to.

We both commute — is a Devon Rex still a good choice?

Only with company. This breed doesn't do well alone for ten hours a day. Two kittens, or an existing cat or dog at home, makes it work. Tell us your situation and we'll be candid about the fit.

How do I reserve a Devon Rex kitten from New Jersey?

Either put a 30% deposit on a kitten that's available now, or pay $500 to join the waiting list and get priority choice from the next litters, in the order people sign up. Deposits are neither refundable nor transferable.
